Froya is locatated off the coast of Central Norway and is 147 square km (Being smaller than it's neighbouring island - Hitra) Froya's population has gradually reduced since the world war to around 4,300, giving the island serious financial difficulties for a long time.

As one of the 15 founding member islands, Froya has attended all the Island Games since the first one.
