The Shetland Islands measure 1,466 km squared and have a recidency of roughly 22,000 people. They are actually a collection of over 100 islands between Scotland and Scandinavia

The Shetland Islands are one of the 15 founding Islands of the International Island Games Association and it hosted the games in 2005 (they are the smallest island to ever host the Island Games).
